Please meet another alum featured in the video series dedicated to the 20th Anniversary - Marcin Seredynski. Marcin earned his PhD in Computer Science in 2009 and is now Head of Innovation and Research at the E-Bus Competence Center.

He shares his experience of doing a PhD on the Kirchberg campus in the era of Nokia phones and The White Stripes.

The professor who you will never forget and why:

My PhD supervisor Prof. Pascal Bouvry – the team he was leading had high ‘fun factor’, which not only contributed to productivity but also made work enjoyable.

Which languages did you learn while studying at Uni.lu?

French.

The most popular band/singer while you were a student:

The White Stripes.

Best concert you went to when you were a student:

David Gilmour in Gdansk.

Your favourite movie while you were a student:

Kill Bill

What kind of phone did you use when you were a student?

Nokia 3310, followed by iPhone 3GS.

Most popular social media network while you were at Uni.lu:

Probably Myspace, although social media were still fortunately a niche.

How did you listen to music when you were a student?

CD.

The question we didn’t ask but you want to answer 😊:

What car did you drive?

It was a 1990 Ford Orion 1.8D Ghia. The only thing good about that car was that it was impossible to get a speeding ticket thanks to its 44 kW engine.

Love it
